I finally got out on the water and what a gorgeous day it was. Took the wife and my 4-year old boy Hunter Crappie fishing for the day. The fishing wasn’t anything to go nuts about but the company was great.

Man what a great weekend (Apr 21 & 22) that was! Calm days like that with the strong sun beating down bring the shallow waters to life for the first time in quite a while. Bass start cruising, looking for food and a place to spawn and panfish are right there too. I’m going to try and get out next weekend which is opening day of the Kawartha Lakes “fishing season”. I heard there were bassboats out on Pigeon Lake already; hopefully they were just running their rigs although I have heard of some people who don’t care about seasons and fish whenever they want. To each his or her own I guess.

Tis' a sobering time of year eh? About a month ago we were begging for weather like the stuff we’re currently having and now… we just want it to go! I’m personally chomping at the bit to get out on the water. The one opportunity that I have is to go after early Crappie on the Trent system (where it’s legal) but I’ve got to get the steering on my boat touched up (hydraulic fluid touch up) first and our Princecraft hasn’t made it here either. Excuses, excuses.

So we’re getting into a new project which involves some writing and of course subject matter is a big deal. Without getting into detail, one of my “articles” will deal with the morons of the world that think they can just throw their garbage anywhere convenient. I came upon this very scenario last weekend on a branch of Harmony Creek in Oshawa (near Rossland & Ritson).
